This National Selfie Day is a holiday that really no one asked for influential lords have blessed us: First, Paris Hilton claims to have invented the selfie with Britney Spears in 2006 (we make up a self -sure queen), while True Housewives of New York city star Bethenny Frankel celebrated what she called natural beauty in a selfie from her car on Twitter. And across social media, snaps by Ariana Grande, Lil Nas X, and BTS took over the timeline.
But perhaps no one is preparing us for today’s trending hashtag, #SelfiesWithDonnie. And, before you get to the conclusions, no, it’s not about that Donnie (you know, the one who has been on social media for the better part of the last four years). It’s a Donnie we’ve never seen coming, and so, we couldn’t be more grateful for this very fake national holiday: Donnie Wahlberg.
On Monday, the #SelfiesWithDonnie hashtag began inexplicably trending, as people began sharing selfies of themselves with New Kids on the Block singer Donnie Wahlberg a brightly avid selfie king, who wants to pose for photos with her bright many fans. In fact, this Donnie holds the 2016 Guinness World Record for most selfies taken in three minutes. (He took 122 aboard the New Kids on the Block cruise. Who knows!). And in support of the reigning selfie champ, his fans jumped online to share their favorite mems of the former icon.
Its #NationalSelfieDay !, the band tweeted. To celebrate, it goes back to that time that Donnie set the Guinness World Record for the most selfies taken in an hour of 5,437 selfies !! If you got one of these, tag it now!
