CNN: Kristi Noem Is the Donald Trump Woman

Unlike most of us, major outlets and pundits are just willing to stop talking about Donald Trump. For example, as of this writing, I count at least five items on the CNN homepage that relate to our former president that would be too many even if any of them also related to something that even tends to associated with current events.

Despite no longer using his social-media accounts, Trump still manages to get a bit of attention in our daily news cycle, thanks to opinion writers and reporters who seem to no longer can be said without him around.

Case: CNN editor Chris Cillizza, who even though not talking about Trump is somehow still excited to talk about Trump. Her article from last night was, supposedly, a piece of political opinion on the future of South Dakota governor Kristi Noem, but it carries the curious title that Kristi Noem emerges as Donald Trump’s woman.

I find it hard to believe that such a headline or article is being written about someone in either party trying to imagine a piece calling out a Democratic male politician Kamala Harris. And, for that matter, would CNN or its pundits consider publishing a piece with such a degrading title and angle on the subject of Gretchen Whitmer as female Gavin Newsom?

More often than not, it is conservative women who are subject to this type of commentary:

And then there’s Kristi Noem, the governor of South Dakota and someone who is clear that when she runs for the presidency in 2024, she will do so as the woman incarnate of the 45th President.

The Cillizzas ’evidence for this controversy is what else is a tweet from Noem, who joked about the difference between the July 4 fireworks celebration at Trumps America versus this summer under President Biden.

Using this outrageous social-media post, Noem seems to have launched his bid to brand himself as the spit image of the former President. Cillizza concludes here:

The Point: For all the Trump talk running again and the rise of DeSantis, Noem could do the utmost to raise her profile – and throw herself as the (female) heiress of the former President.

The whole story here, then, is that a politician who can run as president is trying to get the support a) of the former president, who is a member of his party and b) of the voters who supported said president. In this completely unsurprising phenomenon, the CNNs editor devoted a full 700 words, intended to the real kick: Noem had the audacity to do these completely unsustainable things while a woman.
