Trump assumed he had “stupid” lawyers at his second impeachment trial, a new book said. “Where did they come from? Who hired them? How do I always get the worst lawyers?” Trump nodded. A Trump supporter also joked that “We’ve gone through all the lawyers and are now in law students.” LoadingSomething is loading.
Former President Donald Trump was not impressed with the team of lawyers representing him at his second impeachment trial, according to a new book.
He “spit out anger” after a legal brief file they filed was filled with typos and he leads anyone who will listen that he has “stupid” lawyers, journalist Michael Wolff writes in his new book, Trump presidency. “
“Are these lawyers the most handsome? Are they the most stupid?” Trump has fallen.
The president also complained to his former lawyers about the incompetence of his new lawyers Bruce Castor, David Schoen, and Michael van der Veen.
“Who are they? Where did they come from? Who got them? How do I always get the worst lawyers?” Trump seethed, according to Wolff’s book.
The president’s aides also failed in his legal representation. At one point, many counselors gathered outside the Capitol before the impeachment trial, “and no one seemed to know why, except someone said they had to wait; Adam was gone.”
“Who, finally someone asked, Adam?” Wolff wrote. “Adam is the legal intern who will drive the Jeep.”
Wolff reported that Adam was late because “he was doing a law school test in Zoom.”
Castor, Schoen, and van der Veen did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
Trump went through a long list of lawyers that spanned decades. His longtime organizer Michael Cohen is serving time after pleading guilty to offenses including tax evasion, campaign finance violations, wire fraud, and lying to Congress.
The latest lawyer of the former president, Rudy Giuliani, is facing a criminal investigation of his own if he violated foreign lobbying laws.
Lawyers representing Trump at his first impeachment trial Jay Sekulow, Alan Dershowitz, Kenneth Starr, Pat Cipollone, Robert Ray, Pam Bondi, and Jane Raskin all refused to represent him at his second impeachment trial.
