Donald D. Buckley, born April 6, 1934, a longtime resident of Rubidoux, California, died June 25, 2021, in Hayward.

The love of his life, Joan, who preceded him in death. They have three children Robert, Donald and William. The family grew to seven grandchildren, nine great -grandchildren, and three great -grandchildren.

Don was born and raised in Ohio, where he worked on the family farm with his siblings. After a brief moment in the military, he married Joan. Don started working on the loading docks of a local trucking company, and eventually became a long-haul trucker. In the early 1960s, Don and Joan organized the family and moved to Rubidoux, California, and settled there. After Joans ’death in 2014, Don donated all of his personal belongings. He then moved to Hayward in the spring of 2015 to be closer to his sister Joyce.

Don is known for his kind and welcoming spirit that has enriched the lives of so many people. Her favorite thing to do is to be one of the Santas Helpers during Christmas. She will give away her bright red suit, and happily visit children of all ages, which she hopes to do every year. Many love him, and will really miss him.

She is survived by sisters, Joyce Lenz of Cable, Roberta Barringer of Middlefield, Ohio; brother, David Buckley of Deland, Florida; son, Donnie Buckley of Schertz, Texas; and all his grandchildren.

Dog dons will be included in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
