Former President Donald Trumps endorsement for Jesse Watters ’new book reads like a publisher’s summary – because that’s exactly what it is. The blurb directly depicts HarperCollins ’description of Watters How I Saved the World.

Trump released his statement in Fox News ’book of personalities, How I Saved the World on Wednesday. The blurb contains some common greetings to Watters and a call to action for fans to get their own copy. But, as many Twitter users have pointed out, the endorsement was written in a certain un-Trumpian fashion.

The use of words like interspersed and the flowing syntax of Trumps alleged writing signals that there is something missing.

New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman posed the inevitable question of who wrote the statement and Slates Jeremy Stahl found the answer. Trump’s statement was lifted directly from the book’s details page. Only the first and last sentences are original.

Watters shared the endorsement on Twitter after the discovery without mentioning that it had directly removed its publisher, HarperCollins. The Fox News host has been critical of President Joe Biden in past racism scandals.

How I Saved the World was released on July 6 earlier on the Watters show, The Five, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this week. In addition to Watters ’thoughtful suggestions and stories that span his life, the book also promises to help conservatives better understand liberals and opposites.
