Stephen Colbert labeled Donald Trump’s last days in office “the Turd Reich” on his show Wednesday night.
In his Late Show monologue, the host told viewers that an ambiguity of books had been published about the 2020 election and the end of the Trump administration.
“We’ll learn a lot of new details about the last days in the former president’s office – the Turd Reich,” Colbert joked.
“And the details are coming from a whole new ninth, muck slapping and gossip tea sloshers,” he added.
These new titles include Michael Bender’s Frankly, We Did This Election and Michael Wolff’s Landslide.
A book about the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic, Nightmare Scenario by Yasmeen Abutaleb and Damian Paletta, was published in June.
Can I Fix Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker will hit the shelves in a week. Jonathan Karl’s Infidelity was published in November.

Pointing to the titles Betrayal and Nightmare Scenario, Colbert joked that it was “how the former president described having to read a book.”
He also explained that some of the book’s names are Trump quotes, such as I Alone Can Fix It.
The host continued: “Those, of course, join the ranks of other great titles, such as‘ People Are Flushing Toilets 10 Times, 15 Times, ’‘ The Kidney Has a Very Special Place in the Heart, ’‘ Man, Woman , People, Camera, TV: The Book ‘and, of course,’ In Europe, They Live, These Cities in the Forest. They’re Called Forest Cities, Preserving Their Forests, Managing Their Forests. I’m with Head of a Major Country – It’s a Forest City. ‘”
Colbert went on to say that the “big bombshell from these books is an account of the infamous moment during the DC Black Lives Matter protests when the big powerful president of law and order hid in an underground bunker. “
He added, joking with Rudy Giuliani: “The former president was so embarrassed when his little hidden hole adventure was leaked that he said,‘ Whoever did that, they should be charged with treason, ’adding,‘ They should is executed. ‘
“Be careful, sir, if you start prosecuting people for leakage, you’ll find a new lawyer.”
Over on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon also used the new books to woo the former president.
“Speaking of Trump, a new book has come out describing the‘ anarchy and chaos ’in the last days of his administration,” he joked. “Yes, the last days are ‘anarchy and chaos,’ as opposed to the early days of Omarosa and Scaramucci being a great oil machine, I guess.”
