Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani are potentially facing a criminal investigation in Arizona over their efforts to pressure election officials to overturn the 2020 election.
Arizona Attorney Mark Brnovich’s office, on Friday sent an email to Secretary of State Katie Hobbs requesting documents related to allegations of election fraud violations, The Arizona Republicreports
Earlier in July, Hobbs asked Brnovich to investigate the pressure campaign.
“The correspondence marks the first public sign that Brnovich, a Republican running for the U.S. Senate, intends to review public records after the Republican report, which first detailed the campaign on pressure .Republicfound Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, and Kelli Ward, the chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, have repeatedly reached out to Maricopa County officials to try to influence the outcome of the election, ”the newspaper reported.
The newspaper obtained a copy of the email sent by the AG office.
“In addition, please provide any and all records held by your office that relate to potential violations of Arizona election laws,” Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Wright wrote in an email to Hobbs.
A spokesman for the secretary of state’s office said they provided the notes to the attorney general on Friday.
The request for the documents came after Giuliani had his law licenses updated in New Yorkand Washington, DC over his misconceptions about election fraud.
