Obituary

Mr. Donald Belt Moler, 94, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Embrace Hospice House. He was born November 29, 1926, in Brunswick, Maryland to the late Archibald, and Leviah Pumphrey Moler.

Mr. Moler is a United States Navy veteran, who served during World War II at the Fleet Post Office in San Francisco, CA, Honolulu, HI, and Yokosuka, Japan. He was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC, and a lifelong member of Myrtle Beach Lodge # 353. Prior to their move to Myrtle Beach, Don and wife June were charter members of Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church. in Washington, DC. He retired in 1977 from the Postmaster General’s Office in Washington, DC where he managed the postage stamp program. Under his management, an unspecified postage stamp was introduced, the first being the “A” stamp, and that implementation would lead to the current “Eternal” stamps. He was also instrumental in the introduction of the first self-stick postage stamps first released as a 10-cent Christmas stamp in 1974.

In addition to his parents, Don Moler was preceded by the death of his beloved wife of nearly 59 years, June Nester Moler, formerly of Mt. Airy, NC. In addition, he was commissioned by his brothers Maurice and Richard Moler, and their wives; and his sisters Pauline Wilson, Lorraine Keller, and Charlotte Weet, and their wives; as well as two brothers -in -law and sister -in -law Wayne and Jackie Nester of Westfield, NC, Edward Nester of Mt. Airy, NC, and Shirlene Nester, also of Mt. Airy, NC, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private funeral will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, where Don will be laid to rest next to his wife, June. McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach, SC (www.msfh.net) manages the arrangements.
