Hugo Weaving to make long-awaited TV return in new Australian drama Love Me – as filming kicks off in Melbourne

And now, 40 years later, Hugo Weaving is set to make his return to Australian television screens.
The 61-year-old actor has landed a role in new Australian drama Love Me, which will be available on Foxtel and Binge.

The six-part series will be directed by Emma Freeman, with lead writer Alison Bell alongside Leon Ford, Adele Vuko and Blake Ayshford.
Production of the show is now underway in Melbourne and the Victoria area.
The series will also star Tonya’s Bojana Novakovic, 100’s Bob Morley, and The Unusual Suspects’ Heather Mitchell.

Love Me is based on the famous Swedish series LSKA MIG, created by Joséphine Bornebusch.
The story is about “modern love experienced by different family members at three distinct times in life”.

Hugo became a Hollywood name after his appearance in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in 2001 where he played the role of Elrond.
He then presented the following two films of the fantasy adventure classic.
From there, he made his debut as Agent Smith in Matrix Reloaded and continued with the role in The Matrix Revolutions.
Hugo has also appeared in several Transformers movies as well as Captain America: The First Avenger, Happy Feet Two, and The Hobbit.
