Ghetts, Dave and Little Simz win MOBO Awards in Great Britain

LONDON, December 6 (Reuters) – Rappers Ghetts, Little Simz and Dave triumphed at this year’s UK MOBO Awards, which returned with their first show in four years.

Held on Sunday night in the British city of Coventry, the MOBOs, which honor black music, saw London-born Dave win album of the year for his # 1 record “We’re All Alone In This Together “.

Ghetts won Best Male Act while Little Simz won Best Female Act. Tion Wayne and Russ Millions took home the song of the year award with the remix “Body” while rapper Central Cee took home the award for best newcomer and best drill number.

Other winners included Skepta with Best Grime Act and actor Micheal Ward who won Best Performance in a TV Show / Movie for his role as Franklyn in “Small Ax,” a show featuring stories about immigrants. West Indians in London in the 1960s and 1980s.

The annual MOBOs, which began in 1996, were halted in 2017 and took place virtually last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
