Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is still in intensive care as she recovers from Covid-19. Her spokesperson quashed rumors about the veteran singer’s deteriorating health and asked her fans “not to blow any fake news”. Mangeshkar is currently admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
In a statement, Anusha Srinivasan Iyer said: “A heartfelt appeal. Please do not vent any fake news. Lata Didi is in intensive care being treated by Dr Pratit Samdani and his team of doctors. The family and the doctors need their space. Pray for Lata Didi’s speedy recovery and return home.
Lata Mangeshkar contracted the coronavirus earlier this month and was taken to hospital on January 9. This isn’t the first time that Iyer has debunked rumors about the famous singer’s poor health. She previously said, “It is disturbing to see fake news circulating. Please note that Lata Didi is stable.
Earlier on Tuesday, a source told indianexpress.com that the 92-year-old singer is showing signs of improvement and has started eating solid food. Lata Mangeshkar has started eating solid food in recent days and is showing improvement. She is responsive and getting better. She’s not on a ventilator, they said.
Mangeshkar is a renowned singer with over 30,000 songs, in multiple languages, to her credit. She began her career at the age of 13 in 1942. Known as India’s Nightingale, she was also awarded Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.
