Actor Julian Sands missing after Mount Baldy hike – The Hollywood Reporter

Actor Julian Sands, known for his roles in movies A room with a view and warlockwas reported missing on Friday after hiking in California’s San Gabriel Mountains earlier in the day, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Nate Campos said. The Hollywood Reporter.

Sands, a 65-year-old North Hollywood resident, was reported missing around 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Baldy Bowl neighborhood of Mount Baldy, authorities said. A search began, but ground crews were pulled from the mountain Saturday night due to avalanche hazard and poor trail conditions due to snow and ice.

Searches continued via helicopters and drones when weather permitted, and ground crews will resume work when it is safe to do so. The Sheriff’s Department, which is working with the Forest Service to find Sands, is urging individuals to stay out of the area due to dangerous hiking conditions.

In a news release on Wednesday, the sheriff’s department noted that conditions have led to 14 rescue missions over the past four weeks and two hikers have died during that time.

Britain’s Sands began his career with supporting performances in films, including the 1984 titles Oxford Blues and The Killing Fields. He then landed the lead role opposite Helena Bonham Carter in director James Ivory’s film.
