Alec Baldwin is asking that a lawsuit filed by the parents and sister of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins be dismissed by a judge.
In court documents filed on Thursday, the actor said Olga Solovey, Anatolii Androsovych and Svetlana Zemko filed a lawsuit to “get compensation” after Ms Hutchins died in October 2021.
“The loss of a daughter and a sister is undoubtedly painful in all circumstances,” read the court document, according to Sky News’ US network partner NBC.
“Yet the plaintiffs – who had been estranged physically, financially and emotionally from Halyna for years before her death – have no viable cause of action against the defendants.
“This action is particularly misguided.”
The family of the 42-year-old cinematographer filed the trial in february after she was killed while filming on the film’s set just outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
It alleges battery, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and loss of consortium, which is when a plaintiff seeks compensation for damages to certain relationships on which they mutually depend.
Baudouin65, was rehearsing with a gun for a scene when the gun went off, killing Ms Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.
