Malayalam actor Mamukkoya dies at 77 after cardiac arrest

Malayalam actor and comedian Mamukkoya, who collapsed on a football pitch earlier this week and suffered cardiac arrest accompanied by a brain haemorrhage, died at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Wednesday. He was 77 years old. Read also : Veteran actor Mandeep Roy has died

After collapsing on a football pitch from cardiac arrest, he was hospitalized and kept on a ventilator. He was undergoing treatment. However, his condition did not improve and he died on Wednesday.

ANI news agency tweeted, veteran Malayalam actor Mamukkoya dies in Kozhikode. Industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai also took to Twitter to confirm the news of Mamukkoya’s disappearance. Mamukkoya (77), one of the best actors in Malayalam cinema, has died. Who can forget this man from Kozhikode, the epicenter of laughter in so many films? (sic), he tweeted.

Having acted in over 400 Malayalam films, Mamukkoya began his acting work by doing theater in 1979. He later moved into acting by playing comedic roles and was popular for playing characters who spoke the Malabar accent.

Recently he has been seen in Malayalam films like Halal Love Story, Kuruthi and Minnal Murali among others. Last year he was also seen in Tamil movie Cobra which starred Vikram and had music by AR Rahman. In 1997, he had also worked in the only French film Flammen im Paradies.
