The last time Steven Soderbergh and Don Cheadle were in Detroit to make a movie together was 23 years ago, for Out of Sight. In No Sudden Move, they return to Motor City for a caper with a stunning cast.

NEW YORK (AP) During the pandemic, Steven Soderbergh shot two feature films, released two films, wrote a sequel to his first film (Sex, Lies, and Video from 1989), re-released some of his older films (mostly for fun) and co-produced the Oscars.
It’s an accomplishment that really shames the 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle some of us are still proud to put together last May.
Yet at a time when much of Hollywood is going through profound change, Soderbergh, like few others, has seized an uncertain moment.
I think it’s fair to say I’m the cockroach of this industry, he said with a smile in a recent interview with Zoom. “I can find a way to survive in any version I face.”
Soderbergh has made an average of one movie in each of his 35 years of filmmaking, amassing agile and frenetic work ranging from experimental independent iPhone films (“High Flying Bird”, Unsane) to crowd-pleasing commercials (“Ocean’s Eleven “, Erin Brockovich”, Magic Mike). His latest, “No sudden movement” hardly happened. It was originally scheduled to begin filming in April 2020. The pandemic scuttled those plans, but in early fall, after helping create return safety protocols, Soderbergh put it back together albeit without a star, George Clooney, has withdrawn from the health problems of his asthmatic son.
