Experts suggest Prince William could end up choosing to abdicate the throne in a bold move for the first time in decades.
The claim was advanced by royal expert Ian Lloyd and in his book, The Duke: 100 chapters in the life of Prince Philip he claimed, most other monarchies in Europe have abdications
For example, King Juan Carlos of Spain, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and Albert II, King of Belgium, have retired. The abdication and retreat of monarchs are commonplace in Europe.
He also added that Prince Charles would never do that either, he might be 80 by the time he takes the throne, and I think he would like to have some time as King.
I believe that in the future Prince William could become the first British monarch in this century to abdicate when he reaches a certain age, as it is better for a king or queen to ascend the throne when they are old enough. 40 and retire at 70 when you are healthy and can represent the country around the world. Maybe that’s a change we’ll see in the future.
