Princess Diana’s nickname for the Queen years before her marriage to Charles

The majority of Royal Family fans have been wowed by the name the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave to their second child.

In a nod to Queen elizabeth ii and the late Princess Diana, Prince harry and Meghan’s daughter was called Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet,” said a statement.

“Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales.”

The affectionate nickname Lilibet was also used by the Queen’s late husband Prince Philip – and new claims suggest Princess Diana also used the name even before she became a member of the Royal family.

It was claimed in ITV’s new documentary Dianas Decades that she would refer to her future mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, by her intimate nickname while growing up at Park House.

“Lady Diana was born into a world of large country houses, located in rural estates,” viewers heard an off-camera narrator say, as they discussed Prince Charles’ ex-wife.

“She grew up in Park House, practically next to the Queen, whom she called Aunt Lilibet,” they continued.

Elsewhere in the new documentary Diana, family friends and former neighbors of the People’s Princess spoke of her early years – with one claiming she had a big marriage to heart from a young age .
