The LAPLACE Rae Dior Coutures Back to School Fashion Show & Pop-up Shop will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 1 at 1713 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

This community event is a fashion show, pop-up shop, and back-to-school bash all in one. Children’s activities, music, gifts, live shows and gift cards for shoes and school uniforms ensure there is something to make every family smile. In this event, 200 bags containing school supplies will be distributed to 200 children in need.

Registration is not required to receive school supplies. Shatara Diggs will host the back to school event, and the sound will be performed by DJ B Smooth.

The owner of Rae Dior Couture, Lexus Luckii Wells, was inspired to give back to society because he remembered how much school supplies donations had had on his family when he was growing up.

I remember as a young girl who came throughout my elementary school life how so many people would send school supplies to my mother’s house for my five siblings and I because my mother couldn’t afford school supplies every year. We will even get help with school uniforms, shoes and hairstyles/haircuts, says Wells.

He added, Back to School Fashion Show & Pop-up Shop is a form of appreciation to the community who have supported their daughter’s business. Over the past year, Wells has developed Rae Dior Couture, an online fashion boutique dedicated to her baby girl, RaeLynn Dior Jackson.

I am also very supportive of my daughter with her business, so I thought this would be a great time to show my appreciation to all the parents who have blessed my daughter by supporting her business in any form, be it from a purchase, sharing on Facebook or even something very small like referring his business to a friend. My daughter is blessed, not necessarily with the dollar amount but the love and genuine support she receives from so many people around the world. Now it’s our turn to pay for those blessings going forward, Wells said. I also want to thank all those who have donated to make this event possible. It takes a village, and the village is the only way this event can happen.
