DaBaby Dropped by Fashion Line Boohoo Following Homophobic Babbling

Rapper DaBaby issued a half-baked apology for homophobic comments made during his Rolling Loud set on Saturday. That’s not enough to save an endorsement deal with UK-based Boohoo.

DaBaby tweeted last night that his comments were insensitive, and he had no intention of offending. “Anyone who does has ever done [sic] by AIDS/HIV you all have the right to be angry, what I said was insensitive even though I had no intention of offending anyone. So I’m sorry,” the rapper began.

“But the LGBT community, I didn’t stumble on you guys, did I. Your business is the business of all of you.” The apology came quickly after fashion brand Boohoo cut ties with the rapper due to a homophobic rant on stage. Boohoo recently released a capsule collection of 100 pieces featuring DaBaby.

Amid criticism surrounding the rapper, Boohoo confirmed it would no longer work with him. brand tweeted, “BoohooMAN condemns the use of homophobic language and confirms that we will no longer be working with DaBaby. Diversity and inclusion are part of the DNA of the boohoo Group and we are proud to represent the diverse customers we serve around the world.”

Boohoo dropped DaBaby on Monday after he tried to keep his word on Rolling Loud.

The rapper posted an Instagram story addressed to his fans. “I’m not going to ramble on, it’s called a call to action, that’s what it’s called, because I’m a live player. I’m the best live performer, you interact with your fans, you understand what I’m saying? All the lights on, gay or straight, you wanna know why? Because even my gay fans don’t get AIDS. They’re not addicts.”

Fans have asked Dua Lipa to remove DaBaby from the lyrics in her remix “Levitating.” Others have requested that Megan Thee Stallion be invited to perform the verse instead. Dua Lipa wrote on her Instagram that she was ‘shocked and horrified’ by the comments.

“We must unite to fight the stigma and ignorance surrounding HIV and AIDS,” Dua Lipa told her fans. DaBaby wrongly told fans at the Rolling Loud festival that HIV would kill you in two or three weeks and insinuated that it was a disease only for gay people.

DaBaby insists that what he said on stage did not concern people online. “What I do at live shows is for the audience at live shows,” he said in his Instagram story. “That will never translate to someone viewing the five, six-second clip online.”
