Lauren Price’s gold medal in this morning’s middleweight bout with Chinese boxer Qian Li confirms the British Olympics is the most successful British Olympics in boxing for more than 100 years.
Six British boxers made it to the podium, as Team GB won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals in the ring.
Karriss Artingstall is the first Team GB athlete to win a medal at the Kokugikan Arena. She won a bronze medal in the women’s featherweight division.

In the men’s welterweight gold medal match, Pat McCormack lost to Cubas Roniel Iglesias and in turn received a silver medal for his efforts.
Frazer Clarke won his first Olympic gold medal in a strange way. His opponent, Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan, took a sit-down action after facing disqualification for repeatedly headbutting Clarke, who as a result collected bronze.
There has been a lot of buzz around Team GB new kid Ben Whitakker, aiming to emulate Anthony Joshua by winning his debut gold medal. He looked easy through his first few fights, and only really faced stiff competition when he reached the final and lost to competition favorite Arlen Lopez in the men’s light heavyweight division.
Galal Yafai won Team GB’s first gold medal in the ring on Saturday morning, beating Filipino Carlo Paalam 4-1 in the men’s flyweight final. It was the first of two gold medals, the second coming a day later when Lauren Price performed so well to cap an unforgettable camp for British boxing.
