Valentino’s Store in New York, Paris Hit by Thieves – WWD

It’s been a difficult few days for Valentino.

On Friday, the company’s Episode boutique in SoHo became the scene of an armed robbery. According to the company, three men entered the shop at 135 Spring Street and took several Valentino Garavani Roman Stud bags worth nearly $20,000 but were arrested by local police.

According to Sergeant. Edward Riley, spokesman for the New York Police Department, at approximately 6:41 p.m. Friday, police responded to a 911 call about a robbery inside Valentino’s store. Upon arrival, a 33-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman stated that the three male suspects took out several items, worth about $18,900. While fleeing the scene, they pushed two employees so that they fell to the ground. One of the suspects dropped a black firearm and then picked it up. The suspects fled the scene in a black Range Rover. The suspects were arrested after a canvas and stolen merchandise were found.

The suspects arrested are Jayshawn Brayboy, 20 years old from Brooklyn, Shemar Miller, 21 years old from Brooklyn, and 17 years old without an identity. They were all charged with robbery.

The next day at the Valentino Saint Honoré Boutique located at 273 Rue Saint Honoré in Paris, a similar robbery took place. The thief also broke into the shop in the wee hours of the morning and fled with a Valentino Garavani Roman Stud handbag and a new Rockstud Alcove handbag worth around 100,000 euros. The suspects have not been arrested and investigations are still ongoing.

At both locations, the company said Valentino was “improving security protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of the community and its creations.” The luxury home declined to comment further on the incident.
