The study examined the top 50 UK universities offering fashion courses by calculating a score for each based on their ranking from thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk (CUG), the average annual salary in each city and the number of registered fashion businesses. in the city.
The University of Edinburgh has the best score after placing second in the CUG rankings, offering the second highest average annual salary of 25,968, and ranking seventh in the number of fashion businesses in the area – an indicator of potential job opportunities for graduates who choose to live in the city.
Fashion students in Edinburgh are surrounded by inspiration, including the classic Scottish textile selection, Harris Tweed, popular with high-end fashion labels: Chanel, Herms, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Ralph Lauren.
Edinburgh’s thriving fashion scene has produced popular labels such as Olivia Rose the Label, Hayley Scanlan, Le Kilt, Laura Bond and Cnicol.

Heriot-Watt University is the second best place in the UK to be a fashion student, its sixth rank at CUG is the only factor that sets it apart from the University of Edinburgh which took first place.
The University of Leeds is ranked third overall, fifth in CUG, and with 870 fashion-related businesses in the city available to graduates who choose to stay and work in the area – the fourth highest on the list.
