N. Hoolywood designer Daisuke Obana says he usually draws inspiration from his travels but due to travel restrictions and lockdowns, he finds inspiration from everyday life. Obana is taking a new approach to presentations this season, partnering with Japanese YouTube presenter GENJI to launch the new Compile collection via virtual reality in an app, which timely takes into account the current state of affairs, as well as glimpses the future potential for fashion presentations.
Appearance: Convergence of casual wear and formal wear in elevated fabrics and seedy appeal.

quote note: We want to make a collection [that] viewers can participate and interact with and experience the creative process that takes place in our design studio.
Key pieces: Obana cites the four-pocket jacket with plaid sleeves and plaid bottom as a symbolic display as it blends casual fabrics and a sense of incongruity where the use of fabrics represents the season. Most of the looks feature suit jackets, plaid patterns, and denim options as would be expected from a line debuting in spring 2021 but with a new dimension this season due to its presentation style. This app gives the user a 360 degree view of each view and more details about the fabrication as well.
Take it home: This season is visibly reduced compared to previous shows, and while the collection shows just how innovative the app is, it doesn’t benefit the model as much. However, pieces like high-collar jackets and mocknecks and hooded styles give an idea of how good the pieces are going to be IRL.
