The non-profit organization Global Fashion Agenda has announced that Ralph Lauren Corporation will join its group of Strategic Partners, with the aim of leading the fashion industry towards a more sustainable future.
The corporation will play an active role in the development of the Global Fashion Agendas and Fashion CEO Agenda thought leadership platforms, alongside a number of other fashion leaders from all aspects of the industry. The nonprofit, which is also in charge of the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, acknowledged Ralph Laurens’ ongoing efforts at this time, suggesting that the company chooses itself to engage in its inner circle.
The agenda aims to encourage brands to implement circular design strategies into their production, including incorporating used clothing, resale pieces, and recycled post-consumer textiles into their supply chains.
At Ralph Lauren, we understand that creating a more sustainable and equitable world requires collective action and deep collaboration, said Patrice Louvet, president and CEO of Ralph Lauren Corporation, in a statement. As we focus on identifying breakthrough solutions with potential for scale-up across our industry, we look forward to working with the Global Fashion Agenda and its partners to drive meaningful change.
Effective October 2021, this partnership supports the fashion company Design the Change initiative, part of the 2021 Global Sustainability and Citizenship Report. The strategy centers around three areas of commitment: creating timeless style, protecting the environment, and fighting for a better life. It is also a signatory to a number of additional sustainability initiatives, including the United Nations Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action and the G7 Fashion Pact.
Frederica Marchionni, CEO of Global Fashion Agenda, said: The Ralph Lauren Corporation is dedicated to improving its sustainability performance and advancing the progress of the industry as a whole. I am delighted to welcome him to our Strategic Partners group, which represents a diverse range of segments of the fashion industry.
He continued: Through this partnership, I believe that we can create an even greater impact in our pursuit of a prosperous industry for the planet and people.
The premium fashion company joins Nike, Asos, H&M Group, Kering and PVH Corp on a growing list of Strategic Partners associated with the organization. The Ralph Laurens Louvet will also deliver a keynote address at the upcoming digital edition of the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, scheduled for October 7 to 8.
