Dress Code Becomes Mandatory For Worshipers Who Visit More Than 211 Shrines in Dakshina Kannada

Bengaluru: Karnataka State Dharmik Parishad, an umbrella body covering more than 211 temples announced on Wednesday a dress code for all devotees visiting temples located in Kannada’s Dakshina district. Harinarayan Asranna, a priest said: “We have urged the faithful to follow a dress code that respects our Hindu cultural values. Saree is preferred for women and should be worn in a way that covers her chest properly. Members of Bajrang Dal, a Hindu nationalist organization also urged temples in Dakshin Kannada to follow the dress code. After getting approval from the government, Karnataka State’s Dharmik Parishad will start implementing the dress code gradually and gradually. Currently, the umbrella body has required traditional dress at two temples in Kannada’s Dakshina District. The two temples where the dress code has been implemented are the Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple and the Polali Rajarajeshwari temple.

According to the TOI report, the religious body is responsible for making recommendations on the conduct of rituals, pujas, and also matters relating to the dress code of devotees who visit temples, which are controlled by the government.

Hindu religious institutions, as well as charitable endowments, must first approve the recommendations made by the Karnataka State Dharmik Parishad. Later they will be sent to the Cabinet for further approval.
