Bride Surprises Blind Groom in Special Tactile Wedding Dress: ‘My mind is blown’

Weddings are by nature touching, but for one recent bride, the ceremony was not only touching but touching.

When Kelly Anne and Anthony Ferraro decided to get married, Kelly wanted to make the day special for her future husband. Since Anthony is blind, he knows he won’t be able to see it in his wedding jewelry, but still, he’s determined to make sure he can “see” it on their big day.

He just had to use his other senses.

Combining a variety of fabrics, this unique dress that Kelly tailor-made for walking down the aisle was taken more from the pages of a book by Louis Braille than as a nod to traditional designer clothing fare. bridal magazine.

Kelly’s dress tells a romantic story in texture—one meant only for her true love to read.

“He was like, ‘Well, you can’t see me, so I have to wear something that feels comfortable,'” Anthony said. CBS News. “Nobody ever thought of doing that—ever.”

Kelly’s eloquent wedding gown is not without precedent. For their first date, she deliberately chose a velvet dress so that Anthony could feel her softness.

She remembers her sister teasing her for her outfit selection at the time, but Kelly refuses to give in because she thinks Anthony might appreciate the gesture. He did. In fact, that example served as the inspiration for her multi-textured wedding dress.

When the pair met at the altar, an overjoyed Kelly urged Anthony to feel her dress. “My mind is shattered. I started crying,” she told CBS. “I think I can see Kelly. That’s the best part… when I feel the dress, I create an image of this angel in my brain. It was very beautiful.”

Anthony credits Kelly with empathy which is very rare in the world. She says being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes is awesome, but having the ability not only to understand that each of us is unique, but also to be willing to take the sometimes necessary extra step to make the other person feel included, valued—and loved— is a true gift.

For Anthony, discovering that the compassionate quality in Kelly was more than just a wedding gift—it was a blessing that would last a lifetime.
