Possible-possible-The Falcons would achieve unprecedented success in the Arthur Smith era. No one would be happier than me if the lows of recent years and this 2021 season prove to be the start of something beautiful and successful, and it’s definitely easier to get out of bed in the morning as a Falcons fan if you have one. at least a glimmer of hope that will happen.
I’m saying that because starting with “The Falcons do really bad things that haven’t happened in 20-30 years” isn’t the best way to start an article after you’ve only watched what I watched. Unfortunately for all of us, Falcons has done do it in several ways.
The Falcons are the first team since Texas 2009 to have 3 players interception in the same game (Matt Schaub, Rex Grossman, Chris Brown).
The last team to make 3 QBs in interceptions in the game was the 2000 Chargers (Ryan Leaf, Jim Harbaugh, Moses Moreno). pic.twitter.com/v18Ys1fhcB

It was the first team in more than a decade to have three different players interception in one game. It was the first team to have three quarterback have been doing it since 2000, when Jim Harbaugh was a quarterback and not a coach. By the time Feleipe Franks threw his interception you just had to laugh at how inappropriate the foul was, but it was kind of devastating that even in the inopportune timing this team couldn’t avoid turning the ball over. Atlanta have now made seven interceptions in their last two games.
That’s not all, though.
Thursday, the Falcons closed at home for the first time since 1988.
The Falcons are yet to score in consecutive games for the first time since 1987 & only the third time overall in franchise history (1987 & 3 in a row in 1973). pic.twitter.com/lU22azdoeB

We were justified by Falcons Dirk Koetter foul a year ago, who didn’t seem to be able to maximize the strength of his players more or less throughout the year and especially after the Falcons sacked Dan Quinn. I’m aware of the limitations of the Falcons working minus Calvin Ridley and especially Cordarrelle Patterson against the Patriots, but a new coaching staff and roster limited or not, it’s surprising that the Falcons have only put up three points in the last two weeks and have been relegated for the first time at home since 1988. Think about how many bad Falcons teams have played since then without matching that, and you’ll have to laugh or have to burst a vein in your forehead.
I’m tired of the Falcons making history wrong. I’m tired of Falcons defeat. Whether the win starts next week against Jaguar or starts in 2022, it better start, because we’ve been living in the basement and watching bad football for far too long.
