Twitter launches tip feature for Android users

San Francisco: The micro-blogging site Twitter is rolling out an in-app tips feature for all Android users over the age of 18, following the launch of iOS in September.

Twitter says the “Tips” feature is aimed at users looking to get a little financial support from their followers via the Cash App, PayPal, Venmo and Patreon directly through the app, reports TechCrunch.

Android users can now set to receive tips from their profile by tapping the “Edit profile” button and then selecting “Tips” to get started.

“With Tips, we created an easy way to direct people to a link to your payments profile and we made it easier to support the people who drive conversations on Twitter — whether you want to support a content creator, help someone raise funds, tip someone who just need help or thank someone for making you laugh,” said Twitter.

The micro-blogging site introduced the feature in May after reports indicated the company was working on a direct payment option. The launch of “Tips” on Android comes a month after Twitter launched “Tips Spaces” on Android.

With this feature, hosts on Spaces, Twitter’s live audio room feature, can sell access to Spaces. The social media giant notes that the feature is a way to support content creators for their time and effort in hosting and moderating public conversations.
