Play Dress Up: Students Share Their Costumes

WCC students share the costumes they are most proud of

Izzy Van Wagnen, WTMC

“I chose this costume because I was going to see Beetlejuice on Broadway for my birthday this year! I think it’s just perfect for dressing up as Lydia. I bought all my stuff, but I intend to put everything but my wig in the closet.”

Ness Newman, manipulation:

“Well, last year I did a Hannibal cosplay which I’m quite proud of! That’s for Halloween. I wear my makeup and clothes together […] blazers and t-shirts. Most of Hannibal is pretty funny based on the actors’ faces, so the makeup is the biggest part.”

Elijah’s Friend, maintenance: “I can’t remember most of the costumes I’ve ever made. When I was six, I was a Power Ranger – the red one, I believe. I’m a big fan of course. ”

Trinity Campbell, pre-engineering science:

“The costume that stands out to me and first comes to mind must definitely be when I dress up as Hange Zoe from Attack on Titan. This costume in particular stands out because it’s the first costume I’ve saved for my own money and really tries my best to look like the character. When you go as a character from something like a show or a game, you can find very simple items that will easily make people realize who you dress up as. I really like small business shopping, so I used a few different shops from Etsy to find the pieces I needed for a costume and then with the help of YouTube was able to buckle up.”

Colby Freeman: “I am a magician. My grandmother sewed a lot, so I worked with her and made robes for me and all my friends. They all turned out really good.”

Genevieve Seward, worried: “It was the gothic Little Red Riding Hood that I wore in 3rd or 4th grade. I bought the costume. The included wig is pinned in place. I wore black leggings under the costume. I really liked it because at the time I thought it made me look really cool. It’s also easy to put on and has long sleeves, so it’s more practical than any other costume I’ve worn.”

Brianna Gray, art:

“A few years ago I was the Girl with the Green Ribbon, which was cool and so easy to put together!”

Scooby Burton, transfer: “I remember when I was really excited to be Tinker bell and my mom bought me a pink butterfly dress. I go around like, “I’m Tinkerbell!” although I clearly don’t. This year my boyfriend and I are planning on dressing up as Among Us characters and handing out candy, so that should be fun.”

Roan, linguistics:

“I really like the outside that I wear [for Hallow’s Eve]. This is a medieval girl’s outfit. I wore it to the Renaissance Festival, to Halloween, and to festivals my theater combat troupe visited. The inner skirt and top I made with my grandmother, and the outer dress I bought from the Renaissance Festival. I love the sewing I’ve done – I’m working on skirts now!”
