Welcome to your 40s! Kate Middleton’s birthday portrait released, Duchess of Cambridge stunning in Alexander McQueen gown, Diana pearls

Kate Middleton celebrated her 40th birthday on Sunday and the British royal court celebrated with the release of three exquisite portraits of the Duchess of Cambridge. The photos, taken by iconic fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, will be exhibited across the country this year and are worth capturing.

The three birthday photos have been taken in such a way that they have a painting-like feel, and a dreamy quality to them. In the photos, Middleton is seen wearing a gown from British luxury fashion house Alexander McQueen, made by Sarah Burton, who also designed her beautiful wedding gown.

The first photo is of Middleton’s profile, where she is seen wearing pearl earrings that belonged to her late mother-in-law, Diana. In the photo, the Duchess is wearing a blush tulle dress with off-shoulder sleeves tied neatly into a ribbon.

In the second photo which is the only color photo from the collection, Middleton is seen showing off her charming smile for the camera, wearing an asymmetrical red one-shoulder dress.

The final photo appears to have an Orton effect, as Middleton glows in a soft mist, her earrings, which she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth, condensed into sparkles, and her white ruffle dress flows gently with her loose curls. In this photo too, he is smiling at the camera.

The photos were taken at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, west London, in November 2021. Sharing a photo of Middleton on his Instagram profile, photographer Roversi wrote, Happy Birthday Kate! Happy to have photographed the Duchess of Cambridge for the @nationalportraitgallery on the occasion of her 40th birthday.

The photos will be on display in Berkshire, St. Andrews and Anglesey, the three places where Middleton spent most of his life before being kept in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London, where he is a patron.

Berkshire is the area where the Duchess spent her childhood, while St. Andrews was where she went to college and her relationship with Prince William blossomed and Anglesey was where the couple lived together in the early days of their marriage.

The new portraits that have been released to mark the 40th anniversary will be displayed in the community in three meaningful places: Berkshire, St. Andrews, and Anglesey, as part of London’s National Portrait Gallery, Coming Home’s national exhibition, ahead of the Gallery’s reopening in 2023, Kensington Palace said.
