Fashion Year: 11 best-dressed celebrities of 2021

2021 has been quite the year, with political turmoil, ongoing pandemics, Olympics, natural disasters, and more. The fashion world witnessed the return of the Met Gala and other face-to-face fashion events, and the tragic death of Virgil Abloh, a fashion pioneer. Harry Styles did his Love on Tour, where fans turned the tour into a fashion show. Dune and the House of Gucci inspire fashion lovers everywhere.

Fashion has always been a tool for expressing emotions, opinions and innovations, and I think these Tik Tokers, musicians, actors, athletes, influencers and politicians are the most successful this year!

Tik Tok is where the future of fashion lies with young people showing their insane creativity in breaking through clothing boundaries and inspiring everyone!

Clara Perlmutter is a controversial definition. Her looks often include playful prints, clashing colors, and unusual silhouettes. Lettuce hoop earrings are one of her favorite pieces, along with Isabel Marant’s gold wedge shoes.

As Perlmutter gets dressed, viewers see him pulling out the invisible pieces as if they would fit together, and in the end, he has a super cool and eccentric look. Perlmutter gave viewers permission to look as weird as possible with their clothes. Unexpected layering and color clashes are what I learned from Perlmutter.

Although one of his most common Tik Tok comments includes something like, Is this a joke? I believe Clara Perlmutter is pure genius.

Wisdom Kaye is literally the future of fashion. Futuristic silhouettes, dramatic coats, giant shades, ’70s style, and perhaps a “Dune” inspired look define Kayes’ style.

Personally, I’m obsessed. Rick Owens is one of Kayes’ favorite designers, along with Balmain. I love a good dystopian YA novel, and Kayes’ style is reminiscent of my “Hunger Games” or “Maze Runner” dream heroes.

Similar to Perlmutter, Kaye isn’t afraid to be a little weird with jewelry and even face coverings, and her layers are masterful. Vogue named it Tik Toks best-dressed, but honestly? I think Kaye won the best outfit of 2021.

Very pleasant. Extraordinary. Graceful. Carla Rockmore teaches her followers how to dress colorfully and gracefully. Funky glasses are part of her signature, and bold prints, striking colors and classic silhouettes are her signature wardrobe formula. He took a color that didn’t seem to match and matched it almost magically.

Each look is complemented by eccentric jewelry and a bright purse, and her glamorous demeanor makes every outfit. The wardrobe is one that most apartments I envy can fit into. She makes aging look appealing, and as a 50+ fashion Tik Toker, she’s an inspiration to those of all ages.

MUSIC

The music world knows how to dress it’s hard to narrow it in two. Honorable mentions include Rihanna and ASAP Rocky who is clearly and everyone’s crush, Doja Cat.

The Cardi Bs style is so iconic. Sexy, glamorous and a lot of fun. She actually wears monochrome outfits quite often, something I believe is a surefire formula for a great outfit.

Cardi loves glitter and bling, and all her outfits sparkle. Feathers are one of her favorite components, giving some of her looks an art-deco quality.

Like many people on this list, Cardi is no stranger to funky accessories, including gold face masks and an assortment of opera gloves. More than anything else, the Cardi B is a reminder that fashion has to be fun if you don’t have fun with your clothes, you don’t do it right!

To attend an art installation at the Arc de Triomphe, Cardi wore bright green pants, trousers, a matching shirt, and a headpiece that framed her face like flower petals. I honestly can’t stop thinking about it.

Okay, maybe it’s basic, but honestly, it’s fine with me.

Like millions of people around the world, I admire Harry Styles. I love the music, the energy, but most of all, I love the style. The sweater is unique, anyone remember the sheep vest? is proof that winter wear can be colorful and fun, and her trusty pearl necklace is the perfect way to dress up any outfit (and looks super cool when paired with an edgier look).

The Love On Tour, styled by Harry Lambert, sees Styles in a different Gucci costume every night. His fans followed him as arriving at his concerts felt like walking the red carpet. Flashy suits and ’70s-inspired suits are some of Styles’ signature traits, and she’s very used to shiny shirts, vests, or even pants.

Lastly, while Styles is definitely not the first to try androgynous, he does it with ease which prompts his fans to feel more comfortable doing it too. Of all the people on this list, Styles is the person I inspire the most.

ACTOR

To be honest, Zendaya is the only actor that inspired me in 2021. Honorable credit to Gemma Chan!

Has Zendaya ever looked bad? Maybe, but not in 2021.

He was involved in two big films this year, “Dune” and “Spiderman: No Way Home.” This gave him several opportunities to make his mark on the red carpet.

Zendaya is a bold elegance, a master who looks both elegant and sexy at the same time. He is close friends with his stylist, Law Roach, and that intimacy is evident in the choice Roach makes for Zendaya, he knows exactly how to make her shine. She easily embraces color, not afraid to go bold and bright. I love the way Roach takes inspiration from the film to style his red carpet look.

Her look for all of the “Spiderman” shows is a black spidey-inspired dress with a gold metal spine, and a spider mask covering her eyes. My favorite of her 2021 outfits is the Vivienne Westwood look she wore to the premiere of “Dune”, a chunky silver chain top with a brown and white plaid skirt. I want it.

SPORT

I befriended a sports reporter this year and learned that sports have a lot more to offer than just games.

Michigan States himself, Jaren Jackson Jr. easily make this list. This Memphis Grizzlies player knows how to mix clothes. Similar to most of my fashion favs, Jackson Jr. love good prints and bold colors. White sneakers seem to be the mainstay, as well as leather pants. Simple chain jewelry accentuated a lot of his outfit, and this man loved the leopard print. Jacksons Instagram features a quote from designer Tom Ford that says, Dressing nicely is a form of courtesy. If that’s true, call Jackson Queen of England.

Tennis star Naomi Osaka is the fashion inspiration for the everyday Gen Z. Loose jeans, pink hair, and teddy bear nails are some of her fashion bases, and she’s also a fan of Louis Vuitton. He collaborated with Nike and Levis to design signature tennis shoes and unique recycled denim pieces. Osaka’s incredible sporty aesthetic is so easy to achieve, try a fun print in a classic silhouette with sneakers and you’re there!

In addition, Osaka understands the political impact of clothing. In addition to being the best woman in tennis, and an athlete’s mental health champion, Osaka understands the power of fashion and wields it effortlessly.

Russell Westbrook of the Lakers can do no wrong at least when it comes to fashion. Every outfit is a statement, from pearl beaded shirts to white skirts to fabulous silk ascots. I’m not sure if there are men who are more fashionable. Westbrook plays with color in totally unexpected ways, and I love the variety in his style. He goes from soft-boy-in-overall to yacht dad to streetwear in every Instagram post. Westbrook even has his own clothing line, Honor The Gift, basic with fun graphics and colors.
