How did Princess Diana react when someone wore the same dress as her at the party

We all know Princess Diana, apart from having a great sense of style, had a terrible sense of humour. He once sent this cute birthday card to his accountant, played a practical joke on a teenage Prince William and bought Fergie the cutest Christmas present.

So when a guest showed up in the exact same ball gown as her at an event for Prince Edward’s birthday, she wasn’t surprised by that, and neither was the rest of the royal family.

Natasha Fairweather, owner of the duplicate dress, told Mode he was invited to a party at Windsor Castle in 1985, to celebrate the 21st birthday of Prince Edward and his cousins ​​Lady Helen Windsor, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones and James Ogilvy.

“My sister lives in London and is much more glamorous than I am, so she has this amazing dress that she bought on sale,” she said.

The dress is a black and white strapless gown by Murray Arbeid, pictured here at Diana at an event later that same year.

You can only imagine how stressful it must have been figuring out what to wear to party with the royals, and it wasn’t long after she got to Natasha’s section that she realized her carelessness.

“It was a huge party and I struggled to find my friends at first – there were three people I knew. I found one of them and she said, “Oh my God, that’s an amazing dress, but I just saw Diana and I’m pretty sure she’s wearing the exact same dress.” So we went and had a gorp, and of course, it was clear that he was,’ he recalls.

Worried that this might cause trouble, he immediately sought advice from the Queen Mother, who was also known for her sense of humor. Natasha said, ‘I met someone who said, “Well, I know a little bit about the Queen Mother and she is very good at this kind of thing”. We found it in the living room, and I explained my predicament. He was very kind to me and he said, “It’s okay; You stay and enjoy yourself.”’

As for Diana, she found the whole thing rather amusing. “When I realized that Diana and Charles had gone to the dance floor, I went and danced so close to them that they would notice. As I recall, Charles showed it to her and she laughed; it’s definitely not a big deal.”

Natasha continued to hold onto the dress for years but ended up selling it at auction in December for £1,000.
