Tyler, the Creator scored a Louis Vuitton fashion show created by the late Virgil Abloh – watch the full show from Paris this week below.

The Men’s Fall-Winter 2022 fashion show was held at Carreau du Temple this week (January 20), and concluded with a performance by Tyler himself, descending the catwalk on a bicycle.

A synopsis for the new collection says: “Dreamhouse™️ presents the Men’s Fall-Winter 2022 Collection, combining the themes and messages of the eight season arc that Virgil Abloh created for Louis Vuitton. Envisioning the possibility of metaphysical space, the Carreau du Temple in Paris is transformed into an interior of thoughts, prospects and impulses that expand the mind.

“Through the lens of Virgil Abloh’s central Boyhood Ideology®, seeing the world through a child’s eyes, this collection changes the dress code popularly associated with society’s archetypes and incorporates it in new ways. Through materials and techniques, the Surrealist movement took shape, abstracting the familiar and broadening our horizons.”

Virgil Abloh died on November 28 last year after battling malignant cancer for more than two years. “Virgil is not just a genius designer, a visionary; he was also a man of a beautiful soul and extraordinary wisdom,” LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault said in a statement confirming Abloh’s death. Abloh has been the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line since 2018.

The death of Abloh – who collaborated extensively with Kanye West as creative director and also worked on visual design elements for the likes of Lil Uzi Vert and Westside Gunn – was met with an outpouring of respect from the worlds of music, fashion and culture.

West dedicated his Sunday Service live edition to Abloh, with the Sunday Service Choir performing a cover of Adele’s ‘Easy On Me’ as a tribute. Others paying homage to Abloh include Drake, Kevin Abstract of BROCKHAMPTON, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and many more.

After the death of Abloh, Tyler, the Creator shared a lengthy statement paying homage to the designer. He wrote: “Sir Abloh is a true geek about things. Passion seeps through everything he does. Whether it’s a random collection of songs we’ve never heard of or a supposed plane wing pantone, he always means it.

“Sometimes, part of us sharing our wild idea is to get approval from our peers to keep pushing, but Virgil is ALWAYS a cheerleader. For everyone. The hand from the open door leads one in and throws the key out for the next person to have.”
