the unlikely new trend that’s taking over fashion

Of course, green has been in fashion for longer than we have been captivated by a word game. From mint to sage via lime and olive, green – more than any other color – is associated with nature. As the world came out of multiple lockdowns last year, designers released more green collections than ever before, including Bottega Veneta’s range of bright green accessories, Jacquemus’s olive green skinny tops, and Alessandra Rich’s green mohair jumpers.

“We also associate greens with nature, which means that just by wearing them, we can boost our mood by being less anxious, feeling more in harmony and balanced and therefore refreshed and ready to go,” says color consultant Jules Standish. “This is particularly true in the spring-time when we experience the brighter shades all around us.”

One notable style inspiration for head-to-toe green comes in the form of our very own Queen. Over the last decade, the monarch has taken to wearing brighter and brighter shades of green, and when she chose to dress in a lime green suit at the Trooping the Color parade in her 90th birthday year, #neonat90 started trending on social media. It was a bright, almost acidic shade that many women her age would shy away from, but which looked bold and beautiful on the day, and which showed how important fashion can be at raising the spirits.
