As the parent of a teen daughter of prom age, I can definitely speak to how expensive it can be to purchase a prom dress. It can be a major barrier for students. Mike Ingram, inspired by his aunt’s annual prom dress giveaway in Rossville, is setting up a prom dress giveaway in Champaign at 1422 S. Neil Street beginning at 11 am
Farren’s has offered the restaurant up as a donation spot. You can donate prom or otherwise fancy dresses to them all this week during business hours. Maybe plan on grabbing lunch or dinner while you’re there.
Want to help but don’t have a dress to donate? Ingram has some ideas, including volunteering your time, gift cards for accessories, or even sewing skills. Check out the Facebook events for all of the ways you can help.
