A CLEVER fashionista shared her trick for turning a bargain Zara tote into her own custom “Prada” bag for nearly $1,500 less.
Bella Gerard has been obsessed with a raffia Prada tote, but now she figured out how to get the same style, Prada logo and all, for a bargain and it’s not a knockoff.

New York City-based fashion editor Bella has been lusting after Prada’s beachy raffia tote bags since last summer, when they were priced at $1,650 each but she “couldn’t justify the price.”
This year, the designer brought the style back, but now for a whopping $1,790.
“When they brought it back this year, I was really stressed because I was like, am I going to buy this? I hate myself,” she said.
Instead, she picked up a pink and orange raffia beach bag from Zara for just $35.90 and added a twist.
“I think it’s great on its own, I love the colors, but then I remembered that I bought this little brooch from Prada for my birthday,” she said.
Prada sells the enameled triangle pins with Saffiano trim in green, black, orange, and yellow for $295 each.
“I put it on, and holy c**p. I literally think this looks so good, I just can’t decide which spot I prefer [the brooch] in,” Bella said.
In total, her Zara bag and Prada pin cost $330.90 $1,459.10 less than the Prada bag she was eyeing.
“I guess I could’ve bought a knockoff but that’s not my thing, and this is something only I have. I think it’s really fun and unique, and kind of a nod to the bag I have a little crush on,” she said .
The fashion fan also bought an H&M bag in a neutral straw color and tried the pin on that, too.
“Its not even about faking anyone out,” she said. “Id be thrilled to tell someone how much money I saved.”

Commenters have called her bag hack “awesome,” “creative,” “genius,” and “such a good idea.”
“Oooh you just really did something because I’m about to put my Chanel brooch on mine!” wrote one.
“I like your version better than the original!” gushed another TikTok admirer.
This week, Neil Shankar, a 25-year-old TikTok user from Berkeley, California, shared bits of Bella’s video on his own page, calling it an “infinite Prada bag hack.”

“The luxury brand playbook is to throw your logo on something and to upcharge for it, but Prada is now just selling their logo,” he said.
“They’re basically saying, if you want to be a Prada girlie, the buy-in is $300 bucks,” he added, with his video earning three quarters of a million views in just three days.
