Supporting Asylum Seekers: City of Edgewater Clothing Drive

In recent weeks, the Metro area has seen hundreds of migrants and asylum seekers arrive with no plans for shelter or basic needs. This trend is expected to continue in the short term and strain local resources to care for these people. The City of Edgewater recognizes this as an unprecedented crisis, especially with forecasted sub-zero temperatures. I encourage anyone who wants to volunteer or donate to join us in responding. Together, we can make a difference.

The City of Edgewater will be making a clothing donation at the Edgewater Civic Center (1800 Harlan Street). All donated clothing materials that are collected will be brought to the Denver donation site on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week (December 20 and 21). Below is a list of items that are urgently needed. Please note, this list is subject to change based on supply and demand. The URGENT need is men’s shoes/shoes in sizes 7 10, underwear (underwear and socks for men and women (small and medium sizes), and backpacks/tote bags), as well as with the need for winter weather clothing (jackets and coats, small and medium sizes).

• Men’s trousers (waist 30 33 or Small and Medium sizes)
• New socks and underwear (men and women)
• Winter clothing (hat, gloves, scarf, boots size 5 7 for women and 7 10 for men)
• Children’s clothing for ages 10 and under
• Backpacks and tote bags (usable grocery bags)
