How This Fashion PR Makes Her Skin So Good

[ad_1]

As global public relations manager for UGG and a mother to his 1-year-old son, Enzo, Maricia Josephs’ morning routine is highly unpredictable. When she hasn’t woken up at 6:30 a.m. reading emails from her colleagues in Japan and China, she’s nursing her teething baby boy. From managing work to navigating motherhoodJoseph is many more purposefully doing little things like drinking apple cider vinegar every morning to support her gut health and energy levels and actually spending time on her skincare routine. The 30 year old woman turned to beauty as an escape. Becoming a mother encourages me to make the most of the time I have and not procrastinate, she says.

And in that short time, Josephs, who has been in fashion for over a decade, is taking care of herself by practicing self-care in the comfort of her own home. There is a sense of escapism in the subsidence that he finds joy in. Part of the escape? Have fun in her daily skin care routine.

She takes a moment to evaluate her skin each morning because some days she wakes up a little drier than others. If he’s exhausted, he’ll see his eyes sink a little and know he needs to spend some extra time on that area of his skin. The kind of morning her skin is in determines whether she should wash her face because doing so every morning has caused irritation in the past. Sometimes I go in with lukewarm or very cold water because I think it closes my pores, she says. She reached for the dermatologist-favorite Clean Skin Club face towel, which is gentle and removes the bacteria commonly found in regular washcloths.

When she chose to clean the skin, she chose to wash off the Tatcha creamy rice. She has been using it for years, and her sensitive skin has never failed her. Made with Japanese rice powder and hyaluronic acid, this cleanser thoroughly removes impurities while keeping skin radiant.

The one product that changed the game for him? Paulas Choice vitamin C serum, a brightening treatment that removes dark spots and improves uneven texture. Josephs has tested his fair share of vitamin C serums that left him with redness and irritation. And after becoming a mother, turning up the luminosity to relieve the boredom of those sleep deprived days was a non-negotiable step in her routine. Not only does this vitamin C brighten my skin, it gives me smoother skin overall, she says.

Next moisturise with Tatcha’s cult favorite Dewy Skin Cream, which has a rich, cloud-like texture that instantly plumps and hydrates her skin. Just like its flagship cleanser, this cream is formulated with Japanese rice powder and hyaluronic acid.

She never misses the most important step in her routine: sunscreen. She had tried several sunscreens with no success, causing her to stop using them altogether. But since it’s such an important product, she did some research to find the right product and ended up using the Paulas Choice hydrating sunscreen. The sunscreen has an SPF of 50, offering ample protection without leaving an unwanted white cast on her deep skin.

In winter, when her skin is super dry, Josephs locks in all the moisture with Aquaphor. I know some people say it’s too oily or thick, but it works well for me and gets rid of my dry spots, she says. This is the one product she always uses, even when she runs out of other products and it’s time to replenish.

At night, she swears by Kiehls Midnight Recovery oil, a refreshing blend of botanicals. Josephs enjoys how nutritious it feels when he sleeps. It’s like my skin literally renewed overnight, she says, adding that she always wakes up glowing.

Before having his son, self-care looked very different for Josephs. When you live life for yourself and are not responsible for other human beings, you are just enjoying life like a lovely single aunt. This is Enzo’s world now, and I like living in it, he laughs. Before motherhood, taking care of herself looked like getting her signature long acrylic nails at the nail salon or shopping. Now having alone time to sit still feels like self-care. Taking care of yourself is being able to watch a show without distractions, take a shower for more than ten minutes, not be too tired to stick to my full skincare routine, sit in the tub to relax, or lie down, she says. .

Recently, she’s found joy in the gym. I’ve always loved working out, stretching, and lifting weights, but I totally understand gym girls now, she says. Once she felt more energized after releasing endorphins, she found greater satisfaction from working out. He goes out at night, and it’s something he looks forward to in his schedule every week.

Josephs’ mother, Donecia Henderson, is it right taking care of herself, and observing it has inspired her to live a more stress-free life. She had always looked up to her mother, but over the last two years, Josephs has really re-evaluated the way she approaches life. From the way he eats and exercises to lowering his stress levels, I’m starting to take all of that into account, he says. Lifestyle habits and stress levels affect everything, including skin. His mother became a vegetarian a few years ago, and while Josephs hasn’t followed in that footsteps, he’s certainly changed his relationship with food. I used to love taking care of myself, she says. I’m not saying that I don’t treat myself to fries or a burger sometimes, but I’ve learned that eating healthy is really about taking care of myself.

From drinking fresh ginger tea to practicing prayer and meditation, many of her daily practices come from growing up in a Jamaican household. Everything that is now called health, such as drinking fresh juice, Josephs has been instilled in him since he was a child. We grew up drinking fresh ginger and lime and eating clean food, and I want my son to know all of these things will benefit his health, he said. Growing up, it’s like, Ugh, I don’t want to do that. I want McDonalds. But now I realize how amazing it was to grow up and have healthy habits that I can now pass on to my son.

For Josephs, who comes from a line of aging women, growing old is a beautiful thing. “I may have a few smile lines, but I’m excited to see how I’ll age, I celebrate,” he said.
