Adidas, a sportswear company, is suing the American fashion brand over its trademark three-stripe logo.
Thom Browne, 57, an American fashion designer who founded the clothing line that bears his name, went to court in New York yesterday. The Brownes apparel featured a striped pattern which Adidas said could create confusion between the two brands. A New York judge ordered that the case be brought to trial.
Browne arrived in court wearing tailored shorts and socks, one of which had a signature four-bar that caught the attention of Adidas lawyers. Her company was founded in 2001 as a boutique in Manhattan’s West Village, and has since expanded worldwide.
