It’s time for the menswear boom as Paris Fashion Week returns

[ad_1]

In Milan last week – where the fashion show hadn’t even finished yet as the industrial caravan moved to Paris – the talk was over who would replace Alessandro Michele’s flamboyant creative director at Gucci after his recent shock departure.

In Paris, the big unanswered question is who will take over from Louis Vuitton after Virgil Abloh’s premature death in November 2021.

The label set fashionista tongues wagging when it announced that Thursday’s show was handled by child prodigy Colm Dillane, the man behind the hot young Brooklyn label KidSuper – along with an accompanying film shot by French director Michel Gondry.

While many are concerned about the impact of a possible recession, tightening environmental regulations and the cost of inflation, menswear is seen as a bright spot.

“Saint Laurent, Gucci and Givenchy are doing almost better on men than women right now,” said Alice Feillard, director of purchasing for Paris department store Galeries Lafayette.

“We’ve seen this exponential growth for two or three years… It’s really picking up,” he added.
