On Monday night, new movie Margot Robbie Babylon premiered in its home country with a big show in Sydney, Australia. For the red carpet, Robbie wore a pale blue dress by Versace with a thigh-high slit. The slit design and the hem of the dress are lined with red lace, making the actress’ long legs even more eye-catching.
The dress featured a sleeveless corset-style bodice, with double spaghetti straps attached with jeweled hardware, and a ruched fabric gathered at the hips. She wore it with matching blue heels, let her hair down, and only accessorized her diamond wedding ring.
In a recent interview with W MagazineRobbie said that his role in Babylon as silent film actor Nellie LaRoy was the character to play. In the film, LaRoy is a totally wild Hollywood party girl.
When I get the script for Babylon, I feel like I have to do it, he explained. I never felt that way about the script. I panicked one thing, I suggested coming to the director’s house. When we finally met, I said, I have to play this character—she’s mine.
He added, Playing the crazy girl wasn’t difficult for me. [Laughs] Back then, in the 1920s, there was more cocaine in LA than there is today. Thirty year olds run studios, and 20 year olds become millionaires. There are no rules, it’s a whole new industry, and nothing is regulated. They have fun, party a lot. Nellie was the center of that world. And she doesn’t wear a lot of clothes! One of the main costumes I wear in movies is no-bra, no-top, nothing, and no one likes to dress up more than I do.
Babylon it’s currently in theaters and also available to stream on Amazon Prime.
