Toast is for Saks Fifth Avenue.
On Thursday, the retailer revealed the final results of a long-simmering renovation of the men’s floor of its New York City flagship store. The men’s room, a 40,000-square-foot shopping destination, is some were launched last October, as part of a major $250 million revamp the store is currently undergoing. Now that the dust has settled, the men’s department on the seventh floor has a new look, with 23 new brands added to the space, and 19 new stores in store housing a spate of luxury brands.
On a tour of the space, Saks senior vice president Louis DiGiacomo explained that offerings from brands such as Sacai, Jil Sander and Casablanca have been added to complement existing heavyweight offerings including Dior, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Bottega Veneta, Burberry and Gucci. “As our customer base has grown to become more vogue, we felt it was a strong fashion brand to add,” he said Robb report. “We’re taking it to the next level with renovations to be that fashion leader.”

To the left of the elevator, where you will enter the floor, is the Atrium space which will alternately feature new designers and “new-to-Saks” brands. Some of the new brands that have emerged so far include Bode, Martine Rose, Undercover, Wales Bonner, Willy Chavarria, and Sky High Farm Workwear. That floor also housed Celine’s first US stores.
Elsewhere, you’ll find Alexander McQueen’s first concept store designed by his creative director Sarah Burton. Palm Angels’ first men’s shop-in-shop in the US can also be found here, alongside Burberry’s first concept store in NYC which mirrors the brand’s Sloane Street flagship store in London. And while there are a number of aesthetics competing for your attention, the space feels harmonious: many shops in stores are highly individualized, which is not the case in every luxury department store.
To ensure Saks and flagship brands are happy, the business works together as a team to design every shop in the store. More importantly, the store’s planning and design team at Saks Fifth Avenue worked with interior design firm Highland Associates on an entire men’s floor renovation. A modern staircase—located in the middle of the department—connects the sixth and seventh floors to offer a sense of cohesion. The previously blocked windows have been restored and opened to let more light into the room.

While the sixth floor is still undergoing renovations, this is probably more of a hot spot for men to wear classic formal wear and sewing. According to Saks, shops on the floor will open in rotation this year with names including Zegna, Ralph Lauren, Loro Piana, Brunello Cucinelli and Isaia. Men’s shoes are also located on the sixth floor in an 8,000 square foot space featuring more than 60 luxury brands. And Saks’ dedication to its male customers is by design.
“Our men’s business over the last few years, has grown tremendously,” he claims. “We’ve renovated the floor to match what we see as the future of the male business, our customers, and how we want to serve our new and emerging young fashion clientele, as well as our core and exceptional existing customers who are making a post-pandemic comeback. . and shop with us.”

As well as updating its physical space, Saks is also adding more than 125 new brands to its website in 2022. Recently, Saks also launched a men-only brand ambassador program called The Saks Man to better connect with shoppers through unique, face-to-face digital content face to face experience.
“The New York store and our stores are physical representations of our digital clients,” said DiGiacomo.
