Men’s fashion trends for 2023: More skirts, casual suits and cashmere

[ad_1]

While the pandemic transformed men’s wardrobes, relegating shirts, suits and ties to the background in favor of more comfortable clothing, men are now returning to more elegant styles. The suit is making a comeback, as seen on the Milan and Paris catwalks, but shedding its formal aesthetic to embrace a more casual cut and material, as well as a more relaxed look. This is poised to become a strong trend that will prevail throughout 2023.

Meanwhile, men have started wearing elegant and well-made clothes for a refined look. Cashmere, for example, has proven popular with men. Stylight reported a more than 1,000% increase in search interest for animal fibers on its international platform in January, compared to the same period the previous month. In terms of clothing items, note the return of style and comfort clothing and accessories, such as boat shoes (+240%), cable knit sweaters (+22%), and oversized trench coats (+8%), as well as very distinctive creations like a bomber jacket (+20%).

The color palette also follows this trend with a dominance of neutral and muted shades. Still according to Stylight, beige seems to be the most searched color, with a +355% increase in clicks in January, compared to December 2022, far outperforming light blue (+21.5%) and gray (+10%) . However, as seen on the Parisian catwalks, there are still some flashes of brighter hues like red, yellow and orange.

If one thing is certain, men’s wardrobes are free from certain prejudices to be reinvented with not one, but many forms of masculinity. This is also being echoed in the lingerie and beauty sectors, which are adapting to men’s desire to protect themselves, and stand out, through increasingly groomed looks.

*Google search data is based on overall increase in searches for certain keywords, according to Google Trends and Glance. The data for Stylelight clicks follows an analysis of the shopping behavior of the platform’s 120 million annual shoppers for January 1-13, 2023 compared to December 1-13, 2022, and January 1-23, 2023 compared to December 1-23, 2022.
