Tonight’s replay against Ball State (5-3) and BYU (6-2) was close from start to finish, consisting of 22 draws and seven lead changes

At first, the Cardinals struggled off the service line in the opening set with nine errors that left Ball State trailing BYU by five (17-12) in the final set. Ball State slowly came back to tie the score at 22-22 after serving an ace from Mason Connor. The Cardinals tied the game again 24-24 after Cougar served at goal but BYU claimed the next two points to win the frame, 26-24.

Ball State did take the lead early in the second half, but it became a heated competition in the remainder of the set as both teams chased point after point. The Cardinals and Cougars took a slight lead against each other, but BYU jumped to a 20-18 advantage late in the frame. Ball State didn’t back down and tied it again with some important blocks at the net. Massacre by Our lord Ndavazochava sealed set of two for the Cardinals, 25-23.

The Cardinals then carried that same momentum into sets three and four against the Cougars as Ball Sate took both sets in somewhat dominating fashion, 25-19, after hitting .429 in frame three and then mimicking a similar performance in set four, 25-23 , to seal victory today.

For the second contest in a row, Ndavazocheva led the Cardinals attack with 19 kills while her teammate Coloring Ball resulting in a 12-kill performance. david flores gave 45 assists and Vanis Buckholz led on defense with eight block assists.

The reigning 2022 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament and regular season champion men’s volleyball team Ball State will end its eight-match home-game streak when it opens in MIVA action Thursday at Worthen Arena against Lewis. The first serve is at 7 p.m. ET.
