Ahluwalia Launches First Shoe Collection, Ugg Collaboration at the London Fashion Week Show

English mode the Ahluwalia brand launched its first shoe collection during its fall 2023 runway show at London Fashion Week this Saturday.

For women, the model that stands out is the A Wedge, which features the letter A stylized as the heel of the shoe. This A heel will be key to our shoe going forward as we continue to develop more styles, founder and creative director Priya Ahluwalia told FN in a virtual pre-show meeting. I am very happy with this heel; it took a long time to develop and I am happy with the result.

Ahluwalia, who makes frequent references to his Nigerian and Indian roots in his collections, is bringing this design method into a new shoe category. I want to celebrate different cultural references that are relevant to me, says the designer. So, I see a lot of Indians and Nigerians footwearand not just the classics, but the styles immigrants often wore when they came to England

Some of the other heels used across the women’s line refer to the shape of the afro pick, as seen used in the Raga Mule and Chikari Boot, while the men’s Tabali refers to the square-shaped shoes his father often wore which were very popular in Lagos. , Nigeria.

The designer, who produces a footwear line in Portugal, also mentions that his collection uses sustainably sourced leather. According to Ahluwalia, all leather suppliers have undergone an audit with the LWG (Leather Working Group) and are all approved, with two gold standard certifications.

Regarding the retail launch, Ahluwalia told FN that the collection will be released on its website as well as a number of retail partners. Retail prices for footwear range from $470 to $1,200.
