A cult favorite among Antropologie shoppers, the “universally flattering” gown has become one of the retailer’s most sought-after styles, earning approval from thousands of shoppers and one of our own Yahoo Canada editor.

In response to its internet virality, Somerset Anthropologie’s collection has grown beyond its flagship line to include more than 20 styles, with jumpsuits, skirts, and pants among the highlights (see them all Here).

Anthropologie’s Somerset Maxi Dress was the retailer’s “best selling dress” and “best reviewed dress ever.” This versatile style has been dubbed the dress equivalent of the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”, thanks to its charming V-neck and smocked waist.

Cotton dresses are available in mini, regular and plus sizes and come in a wide choice of colors, prints, fabrics and lengths.

‘Universally flattering’

Although persistent snow and sub-zero temperatures, Anthropology shoppers are already snatching up the sizes and styles of the spring dresses, calling them the season’s “dream dresses.”

“Nice cut!” wrote one reviewer. “Universally fits most body types. Sizing is also somewhat flexible.”

It was the “best dressed”, praised another. Somerset is “very comfortable and beautiful,” they wrote. “It hides problem areas and accentuates the parts you want to outline.”

A third buyer, who owns the maxi in three colors, calls it “pretty perfect.”

“Comfortable, feminine, well made, looks beautiful and even has pockets,” they wrote. “I get compliments every time I wear it [it]. It’s also convenient in that it can be dressed up or down and works both for the office and for dinner or lunch. I would have these in every pattern and color if I could.”

While the dress received rave reviews, some noted Somerset’s use of a lot of fabric, the small frame was amazing.

“I [felt] shabby inside,” wrote one buyer, noting that it was large.
