Cowboy Baseball Wins Series In Walk-Off Fashion

STILL WATER Nolan Schubart An RBI single in the ninth inning lifted Oklahoma State to a 4-3 series victory over Texas Sunday at O’Brate Stadium.

13^th-ranked Cowboys scored twice in ninth after trailing all game to progress to 22-7 overall and 6-3 in Big 12 play. 15^th-The Longhorns’ ranking has moved to 21-8 and 4-2 in the league.

Isaac Stevens clinched the victory on the mound to move to 4-0 as he came out of a big jam in the eighth after UT loaded the bases without going out. The left-hander hit out for the first down before hitting a late-inning double game to keep the Horns off the scoreboard.

Stebens enters relieved Drew Blake, which is also outstanding from the bullpen. The left-hander replaces the starter Brian Hendry in the fifth and worked out four closing innings, scoring a career-high five and allowing just one hit, a ninth.

Attacking for OSU, Rock Riggio posted a strong effort, going 3-for-4 with a double, while seven other Pokes took a hit in the contest.

Garret Guillemette started action early for the Longhorns, hitting a three-run home run to left field in the first inning to give the visitors the lead.

But Hendry settled and allowed no more runs while scoring seven of his four working innings.

With OSU still trailing 3-0 in the sixth set, Chasing Addison put the Cowboys on the board with a two-run homer from the left field foul post. It was Adkison’s third round trip of the season.

After Stebens came out of a gridlock in the top of the ninth, the Cowboys emerged with clutch in the bottom of the inning.

Marcus Brown opened the inning with a line out against UT closer Zane Morehouse before a pinch hitter Brennan Holt delivered one in the middle. Next up, Riggio drew a run on the previous eight pitches David Mendham also pulled a free pass to load the base with one out.

With Schubart at the plate, Morehouse uncorked a wild throw to take Holt home with a tying run, and the Cowboy freshman counted to 2-2 before hitting a pitch to the first base line to win the singles game.

OSU will finish at home on Tuesday when the Cowboys host Wichita State at 6 p.m. before they return to Big 12 action Thursday at TCU.
