Anne Hathaway’s Red Carpet Rules: Mini-Dresses and Platform Heels Reign

Peanut butter and jelly. Macaroni and cheese. Anne Hathaway and a mini dress. Some things just go together. Thankfully for us celebrity style watchers Hathaway has figured out her red carpet outfit formula (mini dress + platform heels + feet for days + effortlessly breezy attitude) and we humble commoners can enjoy seeing her wear it with such confidence. time and time again. It all starts with an epic pink Valentino moment that will make Barbie cry, circa July 2022:

This may not be the first time Hathaway has really nailed the wardrobe formula, but it definitely defined her fate as an MVP and Anne Hathaway’s fate as a rising style star. And it’s a combo that, even though she’s had red carpet after red carpet in her sleek column gown and veiled gown, she keeps coming back. That’s good.

Case in point: the two mini-dresses-and-platforms Hathaway wore last week alone. First, the actor chose a black Givenchy mini dress lined with roses for the Bvlgari press conference celebrating the jeweler’s new hotel in Tokyo on April 3, which he paired with black single-strap platform sandals. She kept accessories to a minimum, keeping an eye-catching piece of bling around her neck (Bvlgari High Jewelry Serpenti Necklace, of course) and a few casual diamond rings dripping from her fingers.

The following day, Hathaway had a monochromatic moment in her failsafe wardrobe formula, wearing a vibrant wine mini dress from Valentino teamed with purple tights and metallic purple platform heels. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t include the recent mini-and-platform moment from Miss Hathaway black alligator minis and sky-high boots as the newly minted Versace model wore to the luxury label’s star-studded fashion show in Los Angeles on March 10. Bonus points for dark sunnies and light tights.

Once again, the impeccable execution of the outfit made that much more alluring by the preppy vibe Hathaway now sports exclusively. In the end, like most memorable clothes, it’s the attitude of the wearer that takes it to the next level. Because designer dresses and shoes are amazing, but confidence is the best accessory.
