Fashion exchanges are a low-cost way to freshen up your wardrobe

InvestigateTV – If you’re looking to clean and refresh your wardrobe without going broke, a fashion exchange might be for you.

Sara Bigham is a lifestyle contributor with a popular website and app, Eventbrite. He says there has been a resurgence of exchanges and shops.

If you’re not familiar, these are events held in your hometown, right in your own backyard where you bring ten to twenty items of your own, used with care, in exchange for tickets or tokens which you can then use to get something new and take it home with you, free of charge, explains Bigham.

He said there may be a small fee to enter the event, but proceeds often go to charity. He added that often items that were not exchanged were also donated to charities or women in need.

What’s really great about these exchange and shop events, is that you basically not only get new items for free, but they’re also a great opportunity to take inventory of what’s currently in your closet, explains Bigham. What do you need? What are you not wearing? What do you want to give?
