HOUSTON Hey Alexa, play Saucy Santana – Walking

Usually, citizens can see this elected official walking to a press conference or around City Hall with a business face on his face.

But this week, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner was the featured guest at the Earth Day HTX Festival and even graced the runway with a walk.

Mayor Turner was styled by attendees in a boilersuit made entirely from deconstructed men’s suits, 100% recycled, and zero waste. She also wears a custom-made, hand-painted Chuck Converse high-top Magpies & Peacocks back in 2017.

The background of the sneakers shows an image of Acres Home, which is the side of town where Turner grew up.

It is important that everyone cares about people and [the] the planet comes together to be a force for good, so we’re excited to participate in Earth Day celebrations with the Mayor – honoring all he has accomplished for our city and amplifying how much we can all be part of the solution moving forward. As Magpies & Peacocks enters our 12th year in Sustainability, we are proud to continue to present Fashion as a force for good, said the curators.
